Time to Visit a New Island - Sumba - October 2018

Back in October 2018, we headed off to explore Sumba. I was drawn to this island because of its more ruggedness and much less touristy than some of the other islands in Indonesia. It was also only a quick flight from Bali! We were originally planning to go on a diving trip, but I found out I was pregnant so we headed off to Sumba instead for a relaxing week at the beach.

Being 6 weeks pregnant I was feeling quite nauseous and needed to eat small meals every few hours. We were unsure what the food situation would be so I made sure to stock up on lots of healthy snacks and cans of ginger ale for the week. I wish I would have taken a picture of my luggage....a few items of clothing and the rest was filled with food and ginger ale!

The resort we stayed at was absolutely lovely. It was right on the beach. The staff was super friendly and there was a pack of friendly dogs that often joined us on our nightly beach walks. Most of the week we had the place entirely to ourselves!

Because I wasn't feeling well, we decided not to explore other parts of the island and instead just chill at the resort for the week. I was a bit bummed that we didn't get to check out some other areas, but it was a very relaxing week filled with lots of reading, napping, swimming, and evening beach walks where we felt like we owned the whole beach!

Afternoon tea was served every day!

6 weeks pregnant and feeling bloated....oh how funny it is to look back at this photo and realize how tiny I was!
