Adventures of Living Abroad

I was in the mood to see something new so I ventured to another beach on the island. This beach is called Balangan Beach and it is a beautiful white sand beach that is well-known as a surf spot. It's about 25 km from my house and took about an hour in the taxi. Well worth it!  When I first arrived it was low tide.... I found a nice spot on the sand to relax, read my book, and watch some surfers. There were a few shack-like restaurants set up with some chairs and umbrellas. It was so nice to get away from the busy hotels, music, and tons of people. :) By the time I was getting ready to leave the tide was rolling in and more surfers were heading out. I'll definitely be back! 

So last Tuesday, the 25th, was my birthday and I wanted to celebrate my first birthday in Bali in style! I decided to get out of "sleepy" Sanur and go to the other side of the island. (It was my first time over in Seminyak and I can't wait to go back! Much more lively!)  We had drinks and dinner in beanbag chairs at a restaurant on the beach while watching the sunset. It was a beautiful view with great music and friends. It was so nice that many of my new coworkers came to help me celebrate! The restaurant What an amazing view...the beach is much nicer on this side...the sand is softer and there is no reef so the waves come in and break.... Mary and I...I have to credit Mary for all of these pictures. I completely forgot to take any!  My birthday dessert came with candles thanks to Mary and Ted!  A little fun in the ocean :) Time to get our dance on at the bar!
