World Cup Fever!
Ok, so I know these next few posts are a few weeks overdue, but since school let out in June I have been traveling and spending time with family and friends. Now that I'm back in Porto Alegre, I am finally getting motivated to catch up on these long overdue blogs!
Standing in line to get into Fan Fest...some fans decided the view was better up in the tree! haha
First up...World Cup and Suzette's visit!
Even though I tried to discourage my friend Suzette from visiting Porto Alegre, I was sooo happy that she came! It was great having a friend from home meet my new friends, see my apartment, and the city I live in. Porto Alegre is not what you typically think of when you think of Brazil. Since it's down south there is a winter and I do not live next to a beautiful beach. Winter time means cold, lots of rain, and humidity. Anyway, I'm so glad she came!
I still had to work the week she came, but luckily only 1 1/2 days were with kids. Two games were played in Porto Alegre while she was here. Although we didn't have tickets to a game, we definitely enjoyed ourselves!
We went to the FIFA Fan Fest for two games. The Fan Fest is a large area designated by FIFA to watch the game with a huge TV and vendors selling drinks.

USA! USA! Went to Fan Fest to watch the USA game!
Go USA!
Posed with some Mexicans in centro at a restaurant while watching a game.
Party in the streets! Just a typical Monday night haha... Makes perfect sense to block off a few streets and allow citizens to gather, drink, and dance in the streets. I felt like I was in Argentina....all I saw were Argentinians and all I heard was Spanish!
I have to give him credit for being innovative and no, I did NOT eat that.
Although we didn't have tickets, we visited the stadium anyway!
