Time to Catch Up...
I've really been slacking with my blog lately. I just realized it has been a month since I last wrote. I have been keeping very busy with work and dance that I have not had the energy to write. I'm going to try to give a quick update on what has been going on during the last month.
I'm loving my dance classes! On Mondays and Wednesdays I have ballet and hip hop and Tuesday is samba night! (5 1/2 hrs. each week) I really haven't been home much during the weekend except to eat dinner, check emails, and sleep. But I do enjoy being busy and doing what I love. It's also very nice to be around Portuguese speakers. I love my coworkers, but it is so liberating to get out on my own. :) I need to get the courage to start to practice speaking in front of them now! The people at dance have been very friendly and supportive.
There was a Halloween Party at our school. It was unbelievable...Halloween is not a big holiday here in Brazil and only in the last few years has it grown some popularity. But at school...it is huge! The party was from 1pm-4pm. There were two haunted houses within the school, a gym filled with face painting, food and drinks, a moon bounce, and a moon slide. The kids dressed up and basically ran around all afternoon filling up on tons of sugar!
The following weekend, my dance teacher invited me to attend a dance competition with the company. I participated in dance workshops throughout the day and then watched a fantastic competition.
The following weekend was another bloco. On Sunday, November 10th, I got to dance and party in the streets with Bloco da Laje again. What a fun way to spend a Sunday evening!
Funny story though...as I went to leave my apartment that day to head to the a friend's house, I locked myself out of my apartment. The door locks automatically and I left my keys in the lock on the inside. But instead of starting to panic I got in the cab and thought I'm not missing the bloco. I will deal with this later. Luckily a coworker locked himself out twice before and knew who to call. When I got home that night I was greeted by the locksmith!

This is the amazing grade 3 team! I went as Nancy Drew. :)
